Often times, parents will notice that children are having a challenging time with something in their life.  Just because they are little, do not overlook the issue.  Are they acting out or acting different?  Unable to excel in their sport or experiencing a lack of confidence?  Experiencing a change in behavior?  Doing poorly in school all of a sudden?

Children can have stress and anxiety just like adults. The most noticeable difference is the way they communicate their discomfort.  Limited vocabulary and inexperience in expressing themselves may prevent a child from explaining the issues in his or her active mind.  Crying, poor behavior, sleep disruptions, and unexplained stomachaches are just some of the ways a child may demonstrate anxiety, stress or fear. As a parent, teacher, or caregiver, it can be very frustrating to deal with a child who appears to be acting out for no apparent reason. When we take a closer look and attempt to communicate more effectively, the discovery of a specific fear or anxiety can be the root of inappropriate behaviors.

Hypnosis for Changes

Hypnosis can be used with children as young as 8 years old.   I have experience working with children and will spend the necessary time with you and your child to gather information, explain the process, and establish a trusting rapport with your child. The process works best when it is personalized, so details concerning the challenges the child is experiencing is important.   When all questions are adequately answered and information has been gathered, parents will be asked to relax in a separate waiting area where they can listen and see the child.

All that is required is that the child sits fairly still for about 20 minutes while the hypnotist uses a soothing voice to gently guide him or her into the “alpha stage.” The alpha stage is technically the stage before sleep. Being in the quiet and comfortable alpha stage during a hypnosis session isn’t sleep at all, but a highly focused stage that allows a person to absorb suggestions made to the subconscious mind.

I often uses storytelling techniques (for younger children) and visual imagery to help a child reprogram and re-frame thinking to support goals and solve problems. It’s an easy and highly effective process that feels good. Many children can begin to feel the positive changes after just one session. There is no performance required on the part of the child, other than a willingness to participate. Depending on the issue being addressed, multiple sessions may be required to get the full benefits.

Hypnosis is a safe, natural, and highly-effective holistic modality. Children are perfect candidates for hypnosis and can benefit greatly from this relaxing approach. They enjoy the feeling of empowerment when they realize they can create changes in their own behaviors through the use of their subconscious minds.

We give them a recording to reinforce the good habits and/or changes we discussed during our session and ask them to listen for one consecutive month.

How does Past Life Hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is used to access memories that are stored as energy in your cellular memory from the beginning of time up until the present. The subconscious mind is not limited by boundaries of (perceived) logic, time or space. After being induced into a trance state, we will ask you open-ended questions to gently guide you into an experience that is right for you. It may take more than one session for you to go deep enough to access a past life.

Is the information during a past life session real?

It is not uncommon for people to question whether they have made up or imagined their experiences while in hypnosis. Regardless of whether you believe the experiences are real or imagined, and whether you believe in the validity of past lives, the goal of the session is symptom relief or healing.

Everyone experiences this in a personal way based on his or her belief system.  It is important to keep an open mind during your session and allow your first impressions or flashes of information to come through. As the session progresses and with practice, images or impressions may become stronger. Be open and be curious. The mind is very powerful and can reveal a lot if you are open to and ready for it.

What will I experience?

When you are instructed by the hypnotist to walk through your present state and into a past life time you may experience one of several different reactions:

  • You may see yourself clearly or you may only see quick impressions
  • You may experience being in another body in another time – living their life
  • You may have a knowing about past information
  • You may hear sounds and feel what is around you
  • You may feel as if someone is telling you what is happening
  • You may not experience anything at in session, but have information revealed in dreams

Can I get stuck in a Past Life? 

No. This is an exercise in remembering by going more deeply into your subconscious mind that is part of you in the present. Your past lives no longer exist so you cannot get stuck in them, just as you cannot get stuck in hypnosis.

If at any time an image or feeling is uncomfortable, you will be able to  or detach from the experience. You are in complete control and will take only what you need to get out of the session for healing and personal growth. You will leave all negative events behind.

It is recommended (but not necessary) that you do an initial assessment and introductory hypnosis session if this is your first experience with hypnosis.  Hypnosis gets better as you “practice” it and you may have a better experience when you understand and have experienced the hypnotic state.

Oh, the multitude of ways in which we deal with stress!  Unfortunately, most of them are negative unless we make a conscious effort to deal with stress in a positive way.

Stress and constant worry or anxiety don’t have to consume you or make you feel bad.  There are ways in which we can change our habits, relearn ways in which to de-stress and stop the worried thoughts from taking over.

Anxiety and bouts of stress are surely a toxic combination that can leave your mentally and physically exhausted. It is something that permeates from the mental and emotional levels to create problematic physical symptoms and affects your feelings and perspectives in life.

There are a multitude of reasons we needlessly suffer from stress and anxiety.  Learning to know yourself and learning how to manage stress and anxiety symptoms will bring you relief and other benefits like:  happiness, good health, the ability to relax, better sleep and more.

I’ve been around smokers all my life. I never thought too much about it…I just knew that some of my loved ones smoked. As a child, I was in closed rooms and cars with loved ones. As an adult, the same. Only until recently when laws have changed and thoughts about smoking have changed, have I enjoyed a completely smoke-free existence indoors. I was never a smoker.

Second Hand Smoke and YOU
When asked why clients want to quit smoking, the vast majority of them want to be around for future events and for beloved children and grandchildren. They also say they are tired of it and tired of feeling unhealthy. Think of all the people you are around, especially children , that have either breathed in the secondhand smoke, been in a room or closed car with you or have just watched your habit over and over until it feels familiar. If there is anyone that looks up to you, is the smoking habit something that you want them to be affected by…or emulate?

I received a cancer diagnosis, despite never having smoked. It was quite shocking and surreal. I underwent a big operation and had 30 radiation treatments. Was my diagnosis a result of secondhand smoke? I don’t know, but are you willing to take that risk with yourself or the people you love? Even if there is a slight chance, why risk it?

Does Hypnosis Work to Quit Smoking?
Yes, but you will receive optimum results using hypnosis to quit smoking with a positive, committed attitude and the sincere desire to stop smoking. It is important to believe it is possible to quit smoking and really want to achieve it. If a person has this mindset, hypnosis is very effective. Those who are serious about quitting tend to do the things recommended in our sessions. The things I recommend are changing habits and listening to the CD I provide as reinforcement. Those who are not serious, don’t do anything. They make no changes and they don’t listen to the hypnotic recording. You must come with a serious desire to quit the smoking habit! You certainly can purchase a membership to a gym, but if you don’t go, then nothing will change.

Stopping smoking is a two part challenge. The first part is to deal with the withdrawal symptoms, which some people may experience. Hypnosis is highly effective for lessening or eradicating the withdrawal symptoms when you quit smoking.

The second part, which may be a bigger challenge for many people, is dealing with the triggers for smoking. Examples of the psychological challenges or triggers are if a person automatically lights up a cigarette when they drink a cup of coffee, while driving, drinking or after eating. They may not be aware of why they do this. Attaching their smoking habit to another daily habit is an unconscious behavior, produced by the subconscious mind that relates a certain activity strongly with smoking. In hypnosis, we speak directly to the subconscious mind, where all habits reside. We give your subconscious mind suggestions to act in new ways that support your desire to be a healthy, non-smoker.

My program consists of three hypnosis sessions. During the first session, we discuss your reason for quitting, why you smoke and smoking facts. Motivation Explained

Motivation comes from within ourselves. It is our purpose or reason for doing something, whether that’s to launch a business or make changes to our exercise routine.  Motivation for anything  begins comes from our values and beliefs. When you have a strong sense of your personal values and beliefs (kindness towards others, for an example), this forms a basis from which your motivation can grow.

We all have different motivators. For some, they may include having a clear mission, wanting to help others and being inspired. For others, they may include personal power, career success and money. Neither is right nor wrong.  Many people find external motivators like money or perceived success less powerful than internal motivators that work in alignment with values.

An effective motivator that can help all of us is accountability. This means telling someone about your dreams and having them check in with you to see how you’re going.

My Personal Motivation to Be A Success Coach explained:

In my early 20s, I had severe anxiety attacks.  I not only didn’t know what they were, but none of the doctors I visited even suggested a solution to my issues.  I had every anxiety symptom you can find on a site:  TMJ, IBS, heart racing, sweaty palms, shortness of breath and so many more.  Sometimes I couldn’t leave the house and would sit on the couch shaking.  As a young Mom, I knew it that it was a time of my life that I should be enjoying.  Instead I felt sick whether it was a normal day or I was on a vacation.

When I was told over and over that I had no “medical” issue, I had to find something that solved my issue and gave me my life back.   I finally found ways in which to change my life experience.  It was at that time that I promised myself that if I ever was able to completely feel good again, that I would use the things I learned to help others.  I never wanted anyone to experience anything like I did.  I wanted to help them find answers.  That’s my personal motivation.

Contrary to what many people think, changing habits involves more than just willpower. Blaming or crediting willpower for our ability to adopt a new or break an old habit is unfair.

According to neuroscientists, the brain’s basal ganglia control habit formation. The basal ganglia are associated with subconscious or unconscious processes. When we perform an action over and over, it becomes deeply embedded in our brains. As a result, it takes significantly less effort to repeat that action than it would to choose a new one.

Changing habits requires us to make a conscious decision, a process performed in the prefrontal cortex of the brain. In order to change the way we do things, we need to be mindful, making conscious decisions and efforts (“willpower”) until the basal ganglia take over and we can focus on other things.

Once you repeat a pattern of behavior without conscious thought, you’ve created a new habit, which is now etched in your neural pathway. Willpower no longer enters into the equation.


When thinking about changing habits, we often focus on getting rid of our bad habits. Rarely do we think about good habits.  But we easily can incorporate good habits into our life.

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE:  Every night as I would set my alarm for morning, I would think about what time I would meet my first client and then move backward from there. ‘What time should I leave? What if there is traffic? If it’s snowing it may be worse … maybe I should leave earlier. How late can I get up and still make it on time? I may want to stop and get coffee … Will I have enough time? I want to have 20 minutes of mindful focus in the office before my client arrives.

Then one day I decided to create a new habit. The reward of doing this routine day after day has allowed me much more mindfulness and peace.

Every morning, I leave my house at least one hour before I meet with my first client, NO MATTER WHAT! No matter what happens, I have plenty of time and less stress.  The peace I feel is fabulous.

If you continue to do what you always have done, you will continue to get what you’ve always gotten.  So why make a new, positive habit?  For the reason just listed in the example….for you!  New, positive habits can help make your life easier and lessen the daily stress.
