Guided imagery (sometimes called guided meditation, visualization, mental rehearsal, and guided self-hypnosis) is a gentle but powerful technique that focuses the imagination in proactive, positive ways.
It has been called visualization, mental rehearsal and mental imagery. Guided imagery involves all the senses, not just the visual sense. That’s a good thing since only 55% of the population is strongly wired visually. Guided imagery is experienced throughout the body, not just mentally. Since it catalyzes a naturally immersive altered state of mind, it is a form of self-hypnosis and meditation.
Guided imagery has been found to provide significant stress reduction benefits, including physically relaxing the body quickly and efficiently. It can even help you get in touch with deeper levels of wisdom (held on a subconscious level) that would help manage your life in ways that would reduce stress.
